Saratoga!
Updates:
For any horseracing enthusiast, there is nothing that competes with a visit to historic Saratoga racecourse during the month of August. In addition to the annual congregation of the nation's leading trainers, jockeys and the richness of Graded Stakes races such as the Whitney, Alabama and Travers, the 150-plus years of racing history will literally grab hold of you upon entering this famous racing landmark. Only at Saratoga, "the graveyard of favorites" can Man O' War, Secretariat and American Pharoah all get bested as respective odds-on favorites. The nostalgia at this upstate carnival for racing runs as deep as the natural spring water with an allure that simply cannot be matched anywhere or time other than at Saratoga in August.
The community of Saratoga Springs, which has compelled folks for centuries to journey the 150 miles north of New York City to visit its natural springs, is deeply imbedded within the racing community across all walks of life from entertainment to cocktail parties, equine art, cafe's, auctions and any/all activities that evolve around racing. This is the reason the Racing Hall of Fame has taken residence on Union Avenue just across from Saratoga racecourse. Saratoga will always be a very special place indeed.

Stormin Stephen at Saratoga!
Preparing to Race Jogging in the morning Saying "Hello" day after his race!
When Stormin Stephen raced in the 3rd at Saratoga on Aug 7, he fulfilled a lifelong dream for a close-knit group of friends that have fanatically trekked to Saratoga each year for the past 30 years. The race was the culmination of a fantastic week for our group of new racehorse owners after so many years of attending, following and betting on races for as long as we can all remember. To bring our own racehorse to Saratoga and watch him race while there made this trip surreal. The weeklong adventure included multiple barn visits at 'Horse Haven', watching him gallop in the morning, and proudly leading him through 'the walk to the paddock' in front of a standing room only 'Whitney Day' crowd. We nervously paced before post time and then cheered his performance with the raw enthusiasm of a child and an unrivaled adrenaline that exceeded all expectations. After breaking from the gate, he bumped his neighbor, took back and finished 5th out of 9. Most importantly, he came back to the barn feeling good, healthy and sound. We anticipate his return before the end of this meet for another shot at getting his picture taken in the Winner's Circle at this historic venue.
I also want to give a shout out and many special thanks to Stormin Stephen's fabulous trainer, Abigail Adsit and her father, Eric Adsit, for their terrific care of Stormin Stephen, generous time and hospitality in giving us access to the horse, barn, and training activities.
