Jan 2016: Getting Started
What was the inspiration behind Royal Victory Racing? Like many ventures, it was a mix of many factors. The idea manifested one day, ironically, during a busy work day. I was in a conference room in the middle of a meeting when my mind drifted to the 5th race at Belmont Park, with a post-time of roughly an hour later. This wasn't any race but a race in which my homebred New York filly was entered. I was thinking about the race more than the discussion in the meeting. We've all been there I'm sure! This was going to be a tough race for the maiden filly as I envisioned it should go.
And then I thought, why not go 'all in' to racing full time and share the passion and excitement of racing with others up here in the Pacific Northwest? I could surely put my time and energy into this and create a local partnership group! Like most people working full time, I hadn't as much time as I really wanted with the horses, so I could commit the time and share the expertise with others that have the passion but not the time or experience. So, I decided to go for it. I informed my employer of my decision and plan and after a several months of transition, I left my high tech corporate job at the end of 2015 and launched Royal Victory Thoroughbreds in early 2016.
There are few things that compare to being an owner of a racehorse, especially when those stampeding hooves turn for home. If you’re a typical sports fan, just think about how you may cheer for your favorite team when at the game and then multiply that feeling to grasp the feeling of racehorse ownership. You can’t help but stand up, scream and boisterously cheer your horse home, with the ultimate prize of winning that race. It truly is heart pumping and you will remember that first race and first win moment forever. There will be high fives and smiles so wide that you won’t be able to stop yourself! Even more exciting is sharing these moments with friends and family.
I extend a warm welcome for those of you interested in joining me on this exciting journey. Even if you are just considering becoming a partner, please feel free to reach out and let me know. I am so excited about this upcoming season at Emerald Downs and especially excited to meet new people, share my passion and hopefully bring home several photos from the Winners Circle.
A simple internet search will show you there are several partnership opportunities and syndicates to choose from. I encourage you to check them out if you have interest in some level of ownership. Some partnerships will be less and some more expensive than Royal Victory Thoroughbreds and some will offer different packages, such as a single horse. Some will race at different venues and some will charge you a high fee(s). Some partnerships are large operations and less intimate and some are small and more personally managed. My intent is to bring you an active, fun and hands-on racing experience to you and bring you close to the horses.
Over the course of the year, I will use this site to share thoughts about our horses and the races at Emerald Downs via this blog. I will also invite various guests to share their opinions and as well.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you want to talk, learn more, ask questions or just learn a bit more. I will be continuously adding to the FAQ page as I hear more of your questions so that I can provide you with as much information as possible regarding our partnership.
Thank You,
Victor Bahna
